Wildfire Preparation and Resources

Preparation

Over the past decade, California has been experiencing its largest amount of wildfires.  Not only affecting our community as recent as 2017 with the Canyon Fire 2. As images of Disneyland overcome by fiery orange, smoke-filled skies are almost apocalyptic. Meanwhile, thousands of Orange County residents have been forced to evacuate their homes.

Similarly, this past year we have seen the tragedy of the "Camp Fire 2" in Paradise that charred over 90,000 acres of land and had 52,000 family evacuated from their homes.  However, it is vital that we learn through these tragedies and find solutions.

Over six thousand wildfires have scorched our state in just these past three years. In California, it is critical to prepare your family and home for these rampant disasters and to know what state resources are available to ease the aftermath of wildfires.

Know that my office is a resource to help you during this devastating time. If you live in an area affected by wildfires, officials with our district's cities are providing the most up-to-date information on evacuations, road closures and shelter locations on their website
