Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva Urges Parents to Read to Their Children on Read Across America Day

(Sacramento) – In her Assembly Floor remarks supporting House Resolution 78, which recognizes March 2, 2018 as Read Across America Day, Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva (D–Orange County) highlighted the importance of parents reading to young children. “The simplest way to teach your child to read is by reading to them,” Quirk-Silva said. “When you read to them, when you sing to them, when you talk to them – which is actually the campaign for First 5 [California] – that is how your children learn to read.”
