SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva (D – Fullerton), Chair of the Budget Subcommittee on State Administration, issued her response to the Governor’s May Revision Budget Proposal.
“The challenges of this budget year are being addressed head on by the entire legislative leadership team, including Speaker Rivas, Budget Chair Gabriel, and my fellow Subcommittee Chairs.
As Chair of the Budget Subcommittee on State Administration, my priorities continue to be preserving core programs that help the state’s most vulnerable residents and protecting core classroom funding. Changes to housing and homelessness funding need to be implemented thoughtfully, aiming to prioritize high-value programs.
It is clear in today’s May Revision Proposal that the state’s budget problem continues to be serious. Yet, in the face of these challenges, the Legislature remains committed to safeguarding the essential programs crucial to Californians' wellbeing and future prosperity.
Together, we can ensure that today's financial obstacles do not dim the California dream.”
Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva represents the 67th Assembly District, which includes the Orange County communities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton, and La Palma, as well as the Los Angeles County communities of Artesia, Cerritos, and Hawaiian Gardens.
