SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva (D-Orange County) and the California State Assembly honored Wesley “Chick” Adams of the United States Army as Vietnam Veteran of the Year. Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva recognized the Orange County veteran for his service in the United States Army, and his many commitments to the local community as a Fullerton resident, and Buena Park native.

“’Chick’ Adams has consistently demonstrated his noble commitment for all veterans; that they receive the benefits they earned. He has been a close ally with me in his resolute commitment to the development of an Orange County Veteran Cemetery” said Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva. “I am proud to recognize Chick for his leadership to our country, and to Orange County. I am also proud to call him a friend.”

Wesley “Chick” Adams was born on August 7, 1936 in Buena Park, California. He joined the Army at 23 years old, after earning an A.A. Degree in Law. Chick served during the years of 1959, ‘60 and ‘61 in Schweinfert, Germany. After his service, he found work with a fabrication company in Glendale, California that manufactured room additions for trailers. After working for the company for several years, he purchased it. After running that business successfully, he moved back to Oklahoma at age 45 to his ranch of 1,400 acres to take care of his cattle and prize Bulls. He is happily retired in Fullerton, CA., and a member of the American Legion of Buena Park, Brea Veteran’s Club, and Disabled American Veterans.
