One of Orange Countyâs Academic Leaders Passes Away at 81
SACRAMENTO â Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk Silva (D-Orange County) and the California State Legislature adjourned in the memory of Dr. Milton Gordon, Cal State Fullerton's fourth president, who led the University into prominence as one of the nationâs most inclusive senior institutions of higher learning.
âDr Milton Gordon was a lifelong educator that inspired and educated the minds and hearts of so many,â said Assemblymember Quirk-Silva. âAs a lifelong educator myself, I am profoundly inspired by all he accomplished in the name of higher education.â
Gordon became president of Cal State Fullerton in August 1990 and served the University for more than two decades, during which he strengthened student recruitment and retention programs and formed new partnerships with public and private community entities.
"Dr. Gordonâs legacy continues to have a lasting positive impact at California State University Fullerton, the local community and Titan familyâ Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva said âWe not only lost a great education leader, but someone who encouraged many to grow and pursue their dreamsâ.
Dr. Gordon Milton passed away at the age of 81 earlier this week, leaving behind an enduring legacy in Californian Academia.
