Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva Honors Orange County’s Lunar New Year

SACRAMENTO - Today, Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva issued the following statement on the California State Assembly floor during today’s session:

“Speaker and members, I also rise in support of ACR 4, and to wish everyone a happy and prosperous Lunar New Year. Lunar New Year is celebrated by over 2.5 million Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese people in California, and by well-over a hundred thousand people in my Orange County district.”

“In fact, Orange County is now ranked the third largest in the nation for people of Asian / Pacific Islander decent. The city of La Palma in my district is Orange County's first Asian-majority city, with Asian Americans constituting 51% of its nearly 16,000 residents.”

“On behalf of the richness and diversity inherent in Orange County communities, and throughout the State, I also ask my colleagues to support ACR 4.”
