Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva Responds to Governor’s State of the State Address

SACRAMENTO - Today, Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva issued the following statement in response to Governor Jerry Brown’s State of the State Address:

“The Governor ended his address with ‘This land is Your Land,” and as a former classroom teacher it really means a lot that he sees California as a state that is going to lead as an example for our country.”

“As Chair of the Jobs Committee, we know that we have to continue to move forward to see the prosperity that we’ve seen in the past. We are going to be very careful, watching what will happen with trade; making sure we keep our doors open for business, and making sure that we keep access to the resources small businesses need.”

Before the Governor made his address, Xavier Becerra was sworn in as California’s Attorney General, and Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva made the following statement:

“I am really proud to be on the floor today to see the new Attorney General sworn in. He represents the California values of someone whose parents worked hard, helped him move through his education, to now have one of the highest ranking positions in the state of California. I wish him the best. He is our California story.”
