Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva in the 65th district of California has initiated a resolution (ACR-2) to commemorate and celebrate the 118th anniversary of Korean immigration to the US.
In a resolution initiated on the 7th, the first day of the 2020-2021 session, Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva said that after 102 first Korean immigrants stepped their first foot in the United States on January 13, 1903, a huge Korean-American community in Los Angeles and Orange County was formed.
She then suggested that the Korean American community has achieved great achievements in various fields, including society, economy, and culture, and contributed to the development of California, thus introduced ACR 2 for proclaiming and commemorating January 13 next year as the Korean American Day.
ACR-2, an Assembly Concurrent Resolution will take effect immediately when passed by both houses without going through the Governor's signature process
