Veterans Day Celebrations

Celebrating Veterans Day is a simple way to honor the men and women who have fought for our freedom and protected our democracy.

The history of Veterans Day can be traced back to World War I (WWI). In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th as the first commemoration of "Armistice Day" in recognition of the heroism of those who died in the country's service in WWI. On May 13, 1938, the United States Congress made the 11th of November of each year a legal holiday.

Veterans Day continues to be observed not only to preserve the historical significance of the date, but also to focus attention on its importance: honoring America's veterans for their patriotism and willingness to serve and sacrifice for our nation.

Anaheim

Veterans Day Ceremony

Anaheim Veterans Monument

Event will be led by Mayor Pro Tem Lucille Kring, and will include patriotic music, a special guest speaker and a commemoration of the Marine Corps 242nd birthday. Parking is available in the parking structure behind Anaheim City Hall (200 S. Anaheim Blvd.)

Buena Park

Veterans Honor Walk

Ehlers Event Center

5 – 6 p.m.

Light refreshments will be provided after the event. We want to thank all of the men and women who have served this great country. Cypress

Veterans Day Lunch

Join us for a commemorative celebration honoring all who served. $5 ticket includes lunch donation, entertainment, and non-alcoholic beverage. Tickets will be available for purchase to Dining Center participants ONLY Monday, Oct. 30 through Friday, Nov. 3. Please bring your SeniorServ lunch card to purchase your ticket.

General public may purchase tickets beginning Monday, Nov. 6 until sold out.

Fullerton

Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony

Parade starts at 10:20 a.m., and the Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m.

The parade will commence at 10:20 a.m. from the Downtown Plaza, located on Wilshire Avenue, east of Harbor Boulevard and adjacent to the Fullerton Museum Center, and end at Hillcrest Park, which is located at the intersection of Harbor and Valley View Drive.

Stanton

Veterans Day Celebration

The celebration will include a formal ceremony, a special message from the Mayor, guest speakers, flag folding ceremony, rifle salute and much more. A reception will be held at City Hall upon the ceremony's conclusion. Light refreshments and appetizers will be served.
