National Night Out is a program that not only creates cohesion within the community, but also builds bridges with local law enforcement.
This year, on August 2, from 7 to 10 p.m., residents in neighborhoods all across America are asked to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outdoors with their neighbors and police.
National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and will involve at least 15,000 communities in all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases all around the world.
On a local level, National Night Out includes residents, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, local businesses, neighborhood organizations, religious groups and local officials.
