An Assembly District 65 Halloween Experience

Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva wishes for all of you to be safe this Halloween.

I am pleased to tell you that my office has collaborated with several organizations and community leaders to host safe Halloween events where families, children and friends can safely trick-or-treat. So, contact our office if you are interested in any of the following events to keep our neighborhood safe and fun for the entire family.

Here are some safety tips to keep in mind on this special day:

  • Place reflective tape on costumes and provide flashlights for visibility.
  • Remind children never to get in a car with a stranger.
  • Tell children that it's never OK to enter a stranger's home.
  • Plan to trick-or-treat in a group.
  • Adults should carefully check all treats before they are eaten.
  • Parents should stick close to younger children.
  • Stay on the sidewalk - don't jaywalk.
  • Make sure cell phones are fully charged.

What is Pumpkin Launch? Pumpkin Launch is a free-community event for students and families to participate in a fun-filled STEM festival at a university campus. Contestants use the principles of STEM to build trebuchet machines that send pumpkins high in the sky and towards targets that line the field. The team with the highest score wins the Pumpkin Launch trophy! It isn’t all about cheering on the stem-topped soarers, though. The FREE Event provides hands-on activities for students and families to design and build their own launching devices, test their machines and enjoy some mini competition.

Plus, enjoy some of OC’s best food trucks, have a bite and keep your energy up.
