Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva (D – Orange County) has secured significant funding for Orange County through the Budget Act of 2021.

“The funding secured for my district and Orange County reflects the issues that are my top priorities including affordable housing, chronic homelessness, mental health, and education, said Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva. The programs that are being funded will not only provide benefits to the district, but will also enhance support to our most vulnerable community members.”

Since I began my term, in the State Assembly in 2012, a priority of mine was to establish and build an Orange County Veteran Cemetery.  In 2013, I was thrilled when a decision was made by the City of Irvine, to move forward with a site for the veteran’s cemetery.

The Pandemic will leave many VUCA potholes that education institutions will have to build over, around, or through. Schools and students will be on the frontline facing issues of increased poverty, rising healthcare costs, increased unemployment and underemployment, racial tensions, environmental issues, lack of access to high speed internet, mental health, declining enrollment, and other challenges that cannot be anticipated.

1. The library has reopened with Grab & Go Service. As of March 16, the main library opened up its doors to the public. That means that library patrons can browse the shelves and use self-checkout during this spring’s library hours:

• Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday: 11am to 7pm

• Friday & Saturday: 10am to 4pm

• (Sunday & Monday: Closed.)
